- Westmount Elementary, Grades P to 2 (Thursday Jan 31st)
- Hello Parents, This is the third class of the semester
Matthew did with Lesson 5 & 6 and practiced clapping rhythmic patterns with his hands as well as using the keyboard, counting 1 and 2, 3 and 4, or 1, 2 and, 3, four and. This practice is very good to try at home while saying ‘and’ bending the hands together in a forward motion to ‘count silently’. We practiced listening and then repeating by speaking and clapping together. We will practice more rhythm challenges next class.
Excellent concentration and good effort today! Please work on this worksheet
Luc did did lesson 15 in Children’s Music Journey Volume 1 Please print and have your child complete this worksheets
He found using each finger independently quite challenging. Picking up each finger, and using the ant hills to form his hand position will help him a lot in playing new melodies. Timing is also a concept that he can work on when holding notes, count out loud 1,2,3,4…and then pick up you hand from the key. We will practice calling out finger numbers and playing them on the keyboard next class, as well playing keys on the first beat of an accompaniment rhythm in improvisational room.
Grady did CMJ2 lesson 43, in Children’s Music Journey Volume 2. We reviewed Bass Clef notes and took turns drawing notes on the Grand Staff. He worked very independently and troubleshooted the software with patience and confidence.
Please print and have your child complete these worksheets we practiced finding notes on the Grandstaff and played the grandstaff snakes and ladders

Great job by everyone in listening and sitting tall at the keyboards, it was great to see everyone and I look forward to teaching again this Thursday at Westmount.
Best Regards,
Kelly
10 minutes practice twice a week can help your child advance by reinforcing the things we learn in class and keeping it fresh in their minds. Please supervise to make sure they are using all their fingers as indicated by the fingering on the notes, and not just playing everything with the pointer finger! This is very important at this stage as well as keeping the fingers curled! This year the software is included in your registration fee. All you need is a MIDI keyboard and the fun can continue all week. If you do not yet have an appropriate keyboard you can either log into your account to order one or call the office to order it. The link for the software will be sent to the email you provided at registration so if your child is already registered and you have not yet received the email with the link to download the software check your spam box! Any problems with the download or installation contact support@adventus.com or call Adventus technical support at 1-888-999-6434.
Thanks Kelly
